Bastille Day, known in French as the Fête Nationale, is France's most important public holiday, commemorating the French Revolution and the historic storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789. Celebrations take place across the country, with Paris being the focal point of festivities. A spectacular fireworks display lights up the sky near the Eiffel Tower, typically running from around 23:00 to 23:30, drawing huge crowds from across the city and beyond.
